A four week course held Saturdays running Oct 7th to Oct 28th, from 1:00 – 2:30 pm. Cost – 90.00

In this four part course the primary focus will be on participants learning & practicing a method of meditation called Samatha.  This is a foundational method of meditation that is the first stage of a Buddhist practice called Vipassana. The course is designed to be fully accessible for people who have had no prior experience with meditation.  It is ideal for people who have tried but not been able to develop a consistent practice on their own and have felt as if they just can’t meditate. Each class will include some simple/basic breathing exercises.  In addition a form of compassion meditation and a visualization method for emotional release & forgiveness will be taught.  Each class will end with a guided progressive relaxation. In one month you will have a clear and precise understanding of how to practice and you will have a number of techniques/strategies at hand to support you in cultivating a consistent daily practice of meditation. If you find it difficult to sit on the floor there will be chairs available.  If you plan to sit on the floor you will need to bring your own cushion and or mat.  Please bring a light blanket to cover yourself during the time of progressive relaxation.

This is a profound spiritual practice you can enjoy throughout the day, not just while seated in meditation. When meditating, the body undergoes a structural change, which demonstrates the profound impact of simply sitting down with eyes closed. In fact, MRI images show a complete change in the brain’s different departments, which results in a relaxation response in the rest of the body. When meditating, beta waves, which indicate a state where information is being processed, decrease, and are replaced by alpha waves, which are associated with total brain coherence. The frontal and parietal lobes, which deal with reasoning, planning, and processing sensory information, slow down. And without a glut incoming stimuli, the nervous system is able to rest, resulting in relaxation and improved functioning in the entire body. Meditation Duluth is a tranquil way to refresh your body and mind. On a physical level, meditation:

  • Lowers high blood pressure
  • Lowers the levels of blood lactate, reducing anxiety attacks
  • Decreases tension-related pain, such as, tension headaches, ulcers, insomnia, muscle and joint problems
  • Increases serotonin production that improves mood and behavior
  • Improves the immune system
  • Increases the energy level, as you gain an inner source of energy

On a mental level, meditation:

  • Anxiety decreases
  • Emotional stability improves
  • Creativity increases
  • Happiness increases
  • Intuition develops
  • Gain clarity and peace of mind
  • Problems become smaller
  • Meditation increasing focus and expands through relaxation

Meditation brings harmony in creation When you meditate, you enter a space of internal expansiveness, calm, and joy. The result is feelings of expansiveness, calm, and joy in waking life, which has an effect on our interactions with others and the world around us. Personal Transformation Meditation can bring about a true personal transformation from the inside out. As you experience your inner storehouse of peace and security, you will naturally begin to discover aspects of yourself that were previously hidden due to stress.
